A customer in Ripon needed a Freeview TV aerial installed on a new mobile home. The property was in an unusual location, set within an old quarry, which meant the installation needed careful planning to achieve a strong and reliable signal.
Project Overview
This project involved fitting a Freeview TV aerial to a mobile home in Ripon. Because of the surrounding land and the position of the home, the signal was not straightforward, so the engineer had to assess the best transmitter direction and the most practical way to mount the aerial.
The final installation needed to provide a dependable Freeview signal while keeping the outside of the mobile home as neat as possible.
The Challenge
The main challenge was the location of the mobile home. As it was situated in an old quarry, the signal strength was weaker than expected and required extra support from an amplifier booster.
Although the home was in Yorkshire, the signal from the Emley Moor transmitter was very poor. The aerial therefore had to be aligned towards the Bilsdale TV transmitter, which serves the Tyne Tees North East region.
Another challenge was the lack of strong fixing points. The aerial had to be installed on the plastic fascia board, which meant a large high gain aerial and heavy-duty bracket could not be used.
Our Solution
The engineer fitted a suitable Freeview aerial to the mobile home and aligned it towards the Bilsdale transmitter to achieve the best available signal.
Because the signal needed extra help, an amplifier booster was installed under the home. This helped strengthen the reception while keeping the installation tidy and avoiding unnecessary equipment being left on show outside.
White coax cable was used so the cable route looked neat against the mobile home. The installation was kept as discreet as possible while still giving the customer the signal improvement they needed.
The Result
The customer was left with a clean and practical Freeview aerial installation that suited the structure of the mobile home and the signal conditions in the area.
