This case study shows the view from the roof while we were installing a new TV aerial in Dewsbury for a customer moving over to BT TV. Because BT TV still uses the Freeview signal from the aerial for the main UK channels, we needed to make sure the reception from the property was good and could be fed to more than one room.
Site Conditions
From the roof you can see straight across to the Emley Moor transmitter. That mast sits high and gives a strong signal into this part of West Yorkshire, so we knew we could run a multiroom setup without needing heavy amplification.
What We Installed
- A new 13?element digital?compatible aerial, aligned to Emley Moor
- Coaxial cable routed neatly down the exterior wall
- An external 2?way splitter to feed 2 x rooms
Because the incoming signal was strong, we were able to use a passive 2?way splitter outside and still deliver plenty of level to both rooms. That’s always the neatest solution when the site allows it – fewer powered parts, fewer things to go wrong later.
Why the New Aerial Was Needed
The customer was switching to BT TV and wanted the TV in both rooms to be able to receive Freeview channels without dropouts. Their existing aerial setup wasn’t reliable enough, so we recommended a new aerial and a proper multiroom feed. By installing a fresh aerial pointing at Emley Moor and splitting it cleanly, we could guarantee the level going to both points.
Result
- Strong, clear Freeview signal from Emley Moor
- Both rooms now receiving Freeview for BT TV
- Tidy external splitter installation, no over?amplifying
- Customer left happy with the picture quality and the ability to watch in two rooms
Additional Services
As with most of our aerial work, we can also provide TV aerial repair if a future tenant or homeowner has issues, and we offer TV wall mounting if the customer later upgrades to a larger set and wants it on the wall.
