Here is an aerial view from the roof while our engineer was fitting a TV aerial in Todmorden. This was a pre?tenancy installation for a landlord who wanted reliable Freeview in the property before new tenants moved in. The owner asked us to provide TV points in both the lounge and the main bedroom, fed from a single aerial.
What the Landlord Needed
- One TV socket in the lounge
- One TV socket in the bedroom
- A single outdoor aerial installation so there was no need for multiple aerials on the property
- A tidy, ready?to?use system before the tenants arrived
Installation
We installed a new digital TV aerial on the chimney to get the best height and the cleanest line of sight. From the aerial we ran the coaxial cable down the front wall and terminated it at a two?way splitter. From that splitter we took separate feeds to the lounge and to the bedroom, so both rooms now receive TV from the same aerial. This keeps the installation neat and makes it easier to maintain in the future.
Signal and Local Transmitters
Freeview reception at this property was very good because the house looks straight across to the local TV transmitter. That gave us a strong base signal to work with. However, Todmorden can see more than one transmitter. Because there are three different transmitters that can be received in the area, we advised the landlord to tell the new tenants to re?tune their TV when they move in so that the TV locks onto the correct transmitter and picks up the right regional channels.
Handover Advice
We explained to the landlord that:
- The system is ready to use – the sockets are live in lounge and bedroom.
- Tenants should run an automatic channel scan on arrival.
- If the TV picks up the “wrong” region, re?scan and select the correct transmitter.
This avoids call?backs later when tenants can’t find their local news or certain channels.
Additional Services
We also let the landlord know that, if required, we can:
- Wall mount TVs in either room for the tenants
- Come back to repair or adjust the aerial if a future tenant has reception issues
- Add extra points if the property is later rented as a multi?room let
Result
The landlord now has a single, tidy aerial installation on the chimney feeding two TV points through a splitter, with strong Freeview reception and clear instructions for the tenants. The property is ready to be let with working TV in both rooms.
