Storm-Damaged Freeview Aerial Replacement in Leeds

Freeview TV aerial installation on a roof in Leeds after storm damage

A customer in Leeds contacted We Fit Aerials after their Freeview TV aerial came down during recent storms. The damaged aerial left the customer with reception problems, so an engineer attended to inspect the system and advise on the best repair option.

Project Overview

This job started as a TV aerial repair callout in Leeds. The customer had noticed that the aerial had come down after bad weather, which meant the existing setup could no longer provide reliable Freeview reception.

After checking the aerial, brackets, mast and cable, the engineer advised that a full replacement was the most suitable option. The customer agreed to the work, and a new TV aerial installation was completed.

The Challenge

The main challenge was that the existing aerial system had been affected by storm damage. When an aerial comes down or becomes loose in high winds, it can damage more than one part of the installation.

In this case, replacing only one component would not have provided the best long-term result. The system needed new external equipment so the aerial could be fitted securely and aligned correctly for Freeview reception.

Our Solution

The engineer removed the damaged aerial setup and replaced the key parts of the installation. This included fitting new brackets, a new mast, a new aerial and new coaxial cable.

Once the new aerial was securely installed, it was aligned for the correct Freeview signal. The cable work was completed neatly, and the engineer checked the installation to make sure the system was ready to use.

The Result

After the installation was completed, the TV signal was tested using a meter. This confirmed that the Freeview reception was strong and that the customer could receive a clear picture on the TV.

The customer was left with a secure new aerial system designed to replace the storm-damaged setup and restore reliable Freeview viewing.

Why This Job Matters

This case study shows why storm-damaged aerials should be inspected properly before a repair is agreed. High winds can damage the aerial, mast, brackets and cable, so a quick patch repair is not always the best answer.

By replacing the damaged parts and testing the Freeview signal with a meter, We Fit Aerials restored the customer’s TV reception and provided a more secure aerial installation for the property.
