Discreet TV Aerial Installation on a New Build Property in Harrogate

tv aerial service harrogate

We were asked to install a Freeview aerial on a new build home in Harrogate where the owner was very clear about one thing: they did not want a large, obvious aerial on the front or side of the house. The property had a clean, modern look and the customer wanted to keep the exterior as uncluttered as possible.

Loft installation was not an option because the roof space was covered with solar panels, which would have blocked or weakened the signal.

Challenge

  • No standard roof? or loft?mounted aerial allowed.
  • Solar panels prevented a traditional loft aerial install.
  • The system still had to feed 15 separate Freeview TV points around the house.
  • The aerial needed to be positioned discreetly so it was not visible when driving up to the property.

Our Solution

To meet the customer’s brief we installed a mini log aerial in a discreet position on the property. Mini log aerials are compact, tidy and ideal for situations where appearance matters, but they still give good performance when the local signal is strong enough. To make sure we could serve all 15 TV outlets, we paired the aerial with a high gain masthead amplifier, and from there we fed into a distribution amplifier to split the signal cleanly to every room.

Installation Details

  • Mini log aerial fitted in a low?visibility spot on the property
  • High gain amplifier fitted close to the aerial to lift the signal before it travelled through the distribution system
  • Distribution amp installed to supply 15 Freeview aerial points across the new build
  • All cabling routed neatly and kept out of sight where possible to match the clean look of the house

Result

When you drove into the property, the Freeview aerial was effectively hidden – you had to look for it to see it. Despite the discreet mounting and the restriction caused by the solar panels, the system delivered a strong enough signal to feed all 15 outlets, so every room could access Freeview. The customer was very happy because the installation achieved both goals: full TV coverage and aerial out of sight.

Summary

This job shows that you don’t always need a large aerial on show to supply multiple TV points. With the right aerial type, careful positioning, and the correct combination of amplifier and distribution equipment, it’s possible to keep the outside of a new build looking smart while still getting reliable Freeview to every room.
