A customer in Wakefield needed a new Freeview aerial installation after it became clear that a standard loft installation would not provide a strong enough signal. The property also had no chimney, so the aerial had to be fitted to the front of the building using a secure external mounting system.
Project Overview
This project involved installing a high gain Freeview aerial at a domestic property in Wakefield. The customer needed reliable TV reception, but the layout of the property meant the installation required a more practical external solution.
Because the house did not have a chimney and the signal was not suitable for a loft aerial, the engineer recommended fitting the aerial to the front of the building where it could receive a stronger signal.
The Challenge
The main challenge was finding the right position for the aerial. A loft aerial would have been less visible, but it would not have provided the signal strength needed for dependable Freeview reception.
The lack of a chimney also meant the aerial could not be installed in the traditional position. A secure alternative was needed that would keep the aerial stable, correctly aligned and suitable for long-term use.
Our Solution
The engineer installed a high gain Freeview aerial to the front of the property using galvanised brackets and a 6-foot mast. This gave the aerial the height and position needed to achieve a stronger signal.
Galvanised brackets were used because they are designed to resist rust. This helps prevent future staining on the wall and gives the installation a cleaner, longer-lasting finish.
Once the aerial was fitted, the signal was checked and the installation was completed as a full new aerial setup.
The Result
The customer was left with a professionally installed Freeview aerial positioned correctly for reliable reception. By fitting the aerial externally rather than in the loft, the engineer was able to overcome the poor signal issue and provide a more suitable long-term solution.
The finished installation was secure, practical and completed using materials chosen to reduce the risk of rust marks appearing on the property in years to come.

Why This Job Matters
This case study shows why the correct aerial position matters. A loft aerial is not always the best option, especially when the signal is weak or the property layout limits reception.
